The Independent Trading Co. PRM3500 is a 9 oz 80/20 cotton/polyester heavyweight pigment-dyed crewneck sweatshirt with a 100% cotton face yarn spun at 30 singles. The pigment dyeing process applies color to the surface of the finished garment rather than penetrating the fiber core, which produces the muted, vintage-washed tones that pigment garments are known for. Because color sits on the surface, shade variation between dye lots is inherent to the process. Order a full production run from the same lot when color consistency matters across a decorated program.
DTF transfers are the primary decoration method on pigment-dyed garments because the transfer film sits on top of the surface dye and blocks any interaction with the 20% polyester backing. Screen printing with plastisol works on the 100% cotton face, but cure temperature must stay moderate to avoid scorching the pigment dye layer. DTG prints on the cotton face with standard pretreat. Discharge printing strips the pigment surface dye cleanly on darker colorways for a no-hand-feel result. The split stitch double-needle construction and 1x1 ribbing at neck, cuffs, and waistband give the PRM3500 a structured build at 9 oz.
