The Gildan G470 Performance Tech T-Shirt is a 4.7 oz 100% filament polyester jersey knit blank built for decoration programs where moisture management and a lighter-weight hand are the priority. The filament polyester construction (continuous-strand fiber, not spun short-staple poly) produces a smoother, snag-resistant surface compared to standard spun polyester, which matters for decoration quality and garment durability. Gildan's AquaFX wicking treatment moves moisture away from the skin, the Freshcare antimicrobial finish reduces odor, and UPF 30+ protection is rated on all non-white colorways. The G470 is the marbled-colorway performance option in the Gildan Performance line, carrying space-dye-style two-tone marbled shades alongside solid White, Red, Electric Green, and Black.
Because the G470 is 100% polyester, sublimation is the decoration method it is engineered for. On White and any sufficiently light colorway, sublimation transfers dye directly into the filament polyester fibers and produces full-bleed photographic prints with no ink film on the garment surface. Screen printing on the G470 requires a low-bleed polyester-safe plastisol ink and a cure temperature below the threshold where polyester dyes off-gas and migrate into the ink layer. Vinyl and HTV bond reliably at polyester-safe press settings. Embroidery is feasible with cut-away stabiliser and controlled stitch density.
