Description
The Tultex 0290TC is a unisex heavyweight tee built on 5.5 oz 100% ring-spun USA cotton spun to 24 singles. The 24-singles yarn is thicker than the 30-32 singles found on most retail-weight tees, which gives the fabric a denser hand and heavier drape similar to vintage heavyweight blanks. The ring-spun construction still produces a smoother face than open-end cotton, so the 0290TC sits in the middle ground between a Gildan G500 open-end workhorse and a Bella+Canvas 3001C retail ring-spun body.
The tubular body construction means there are no side seams. Tubular bodies cost less to produce and the absence of seams gives a cleaner canvas for all-over or wrap-around prints, but the trade-off is that the body can torque after washing on some colours. The fabric is reactive-dyed and pre-washed, which locks the colour and minimizes shrinkage. Reactive dye is fully dischargeable on the cotton solids, making the 0290TC a strong candidate for discharge and water-based print shops that want a heavyweight base with a soft hand.
For decoration, the dense 5.5 oz ring-spun face absorbs heavy ink deposits without soak-through and holds bold spot-colour graphics cleanly. DTG prints are vibrant on the cotton solids. DTF transfers bond firmly across the full colour card. Heather Grey is 90/10 cotton/poly, and all other heather colours plus safety colours are 50/50 cotton/poly. Those blended colours need a poly-block underbase and moderate cure to prevent dye migration on screen and DTG work. Discharge printing works on the cotton solids but will not strip the polyester fibre in heather and safety colours.
