The Shaka Wear SHGD is a 7.5 oz garment-dyed crewneck tee constructed from 100% USA cotton at 16 singles. The 16 singles yarn produces a dense, thick body that sits heavier than most garment-dyed blanks on the market. The pigment/reactive wash process gives each colourway the soft, broken-in hand and muted tonal depth that streetwear and vintage merchandise programs demand. Like all garment-dyed blanks, shade variation between dye lots is inherent to the process. Order full runs at once rather than expecting exact colour matches on reorders.
The 100% cotton construction accepts all cotton-friendly decoration methods. DTF transfers bond firmly to the heavyweight cotton face. Screen printing with plastisol produces bold, high-opacity results on the dense 7.5 oz body. DTG prints with standard pretreat, though the garment-dyed surface produces a more muted, vintage-looking print than a standard-dyed blank of the same weight. Water-based inks work on lighter grounds but the pigment-dyed surface affects absorption. Discharge ink reacts unpredictably on pigment-dyed garments because the surface dye was applied post-construction rather than yarn-dyed. Test discharge results on a sample before committing to a production run. Shoulder-to-shoulder neck tape, 3.5% lycra ribbing, and double-needle stitching throughout complete the build.
