The Hanes MO100 is a 4.7 oz men's modal triblend T-shirt constructed from 40% modal / 35% combed ring-spun cotton / 25% polyester jersey. Modal is a cellulosic fiber processed from beech wood pulp. It is softer than cotton at a comparable weight and absorbs moisture more efficiently than polyester. In the 40/35/25 blend, modal is the majority fiber, which gives the MO100 a drape and hand closer to a premium cotton tee than a standard 50/25/25 polyester-majority triblend. Screen printers and decorators ordering for retail merch programs or boutique accounts will notice the difference in finished-garment hand against a poly-forward triblend.
The 25% polyester in the MO100 creates dye migration risk at cure temperatures above 280F. DTF transfer is the most practical decoration method across all 12 colorways: the film bonds to the mixed-fiber face and the low-temperature press window keeps the polyester from migrating. Screen printing with plastisol requires a poly-blocking underbase on all coloured grounds and a cure set at or below 280F to hold the modal-cotton face open for ink adhesion. DTG is viable on light colourways where the 35% combed cotton content holds pretreat, but modal's surface absorbs pretreat less predictably than a pure cotton substrate. Test pretreat dwell time and press before committing a full run. Discharge is not viable: the 25% polyester will not discharge and the result is a muddy, uneven strip on the cotton fraction. Embroidery on the 4.7 oz body is moderate-density only; a cut-away stabilizer is required to prevent shift on the side-seamed construction. Vinyl and HTV at a controlled low-to-moderate temp work across the range.
