Description
The Gildan G840 is a 5.5 oz 50/50 preshrunk cotton/polyester DryBlend long sleeve tee built for volume decoration programs where moisture management and durability matter more than a premium hand. The DryBlend technology uses high-twist yarns that wick moisture, reduce pilling, and create a smoother printing surface than standard cotton-poly blends. The 20 singles yarn produces a medium-weight fabric that holds up to industrial laundering.
For decorators, the 50/50 blend means polyester dye migration is a factor on every coloured ground. DTF transfers are the most practical method since the film bonds consistently without triggering migration. Screen printing works with a poly-block underbase and moderate cure on coloured grounds. DTG is possible but the 50% polyester mutes vibrancy compared to cotton-majority blanks, and DTF gives a more reliable result across the colour card. Discharge ink will not strip dye from the polyester fibre, making it unsuitable. Safety Green and Safety Orange are ANSI-compliant high-visibility colours that require the strongest poly-block and lowest cure to prevent fluorescent dye bleed.
