The Gildan G640 Softstyle is the high-stitch-density option in the Gildan blank lineup — 4.5 oz preshrunk ring-spun cotton with a semi-fitted cut and a smooth fabric surface built for fine-detail decoration work. It sits between the G500's standard fit and the retail-fitted Bella+Canvas 3001C, offering a lighter, softer alternative without moving to a full retail fit.

For screen printing, the G640's high-stitch-density ring-spun surface provides excellent ink holdout for fine line and halftone detail work with lighter ink deposits than standard-weave blanks. The 4.5 oz weight requires slightly reduced squeegee pressure to avoid distortion on a manual or automatic press. Water-based and plastisol inks perform consistently. For DTF heat transfers, the smooth ring-spun surface bonds cleanly with transfer adhesives and produces sharp edge definition on detailed artwork. For DTG, pre-treatment is required on coloured variants; white G640 delivers full vibrancy without pre-treatment on most DTG machines. For embroidery, the 4.5 oz weight is appropriate for left-chest and front placements; a topping stabiliser is recommended for high-stitch-count designs to prevent thread sinking.
