The Gildan G520 is a 5.3 oz preshrunk 100% cotton Heavy Cotton tank top with a wider colour card than the heavier Ultra Cotton G220, including neon and safety colours. The midweight cotton body balances printability with comfort, making it a practical substrate for event tanks, gym programs, and promotional runs where the colour card needs to include high-visibility options. The classic fit side-seamed construction eliminates the centre crease that quarter-turned tanks develop after washing.
For decorators, the standard solid colours are 100% cotton and take all cotton-friendly methods. Screen printing with plastisol produces clean results with white underbase on dark grounds. DTG prints are vibrant on the cotton surface. Water-based and discharge inks produce a soft in-shirt hand on cotton solids. However, Sport Grey (90/10), Graphite Heather, Neon Green, and Safety Pink are 50/50 cotton/polyester, which means they require a poly-block underbase for screen and will not discharge. DTF transfers are the most practical method for mixed-colour orders that span both cotton and poly-blend colourways.
