Gildan G500 - Unisex Heavy Cotton® T-Shirt - Neon Blue

Gildan G500 is style 5000. 5.3 oz/yd² preshrunk 100% cotton on most solid colorways. Ash is 99/1 cotton/polyester. Sport Grey, Antique Cherry Red, Antique Irish Green, Antique Jade Dome, Antique Orange, and Antique Sapphire are 90/10 cotton/polyester. Dark Heather, Heather Navy, Heather Military Green, and other heather colorways are 50/50 cotton/polyester. Natural is non-dyed and may contain natural fiber specks. Seamless rib collar, taped shoulder-to-shoulder seam, double-needle sleeve and hem. Tear-away label. Available in 65+ colorways, S through 5XL.

Quarter-turned tubular construction eliminates the center crease. Classic straight body with set-in sleeves. Runs true to size. The straight cut gives consistent platen contact across all sizes, which keeps full-front DTF placement predictable on high-volume runs. No variation in chest width geometry between a S and a 3XL causes transfer misalignment the way side-seamed blanks can.

DTF application: 320-330°F, 5-7 seconds, medium pressure. No pre-treatment required on solid cotton colorways. The 5.3 oz preshrunk surface bonds cleanly with DTF adhesive. Fine-line detail and photo-quality prints hold sharp edges. Use a Teflon sheet on heather and poly-blend colorways to prevent scorching. Gang sheet jobs work cleanly; the fabric weight keeps garments flat under the platen without bunching at the edges.

Screen printing: the G500 takes plastisol and water-based inks well. The tight cotton face handles discharge printing and soft-hand finishes. Embroidery works on this blank without issue. Backing is standard for chest logos and large fill-stitch designs; the 5.3 oz cotton weight holds embroidery without excessive puckering. High dye-lot consistency makes this blank reliable for uniform programs where multiple reorders must match.

Pre-shrinking in production reduces post-wash shrinkage to under 3% for most colorways. Cold wash, tumble dry low for best DTF transfer longevity. Hot wash causes additional shrinkage beyond the pre-shrunk baseline. Solid colors maintain depth and consistency within the same production season. Mid-season reorders on heather and antique colorways may not match earlier batches exactly. Order enough to cover the full run when color matching is critical.

Youth sizing on the G500B. Women’s fitted cut on the G500L. Both use the same 5.3 oz/yd² cotton construction. For a lighter-weight retail-fit option, compare the Bella+Canvas 3001C at 4.2 oz/yd² combed ringspun cotton. The G500 is not suitable for sublimation; 100% cotton does not accept dye sublimation. Use a 100% polyester or high-poly-blend blank for sublimation applications.
