The Fruit of the Loom SF72R is a unisex SofSpun crewneck sweatshirt built on 7.2 oz 60/40 cotton/polyester preshrunk fleece. The SofSpun yarn process spins a finer, more even fleece than a standard 50/50 crew, so the SF72R reads as a softer, more retail-feeling blank while the 40% polyester holds structure and limits shrinkage. For decorators running fashion fleece programs where hand and print face matter as much as price, the 60/40 split sits between a budget 50/50 crew and a premium cotton-face fleece.
Construction is clean for a midweight crew. A seamed 1x1 rib collar with spandex holds shape, with a V-notch detail at the neckline and concealed seams at the collar, cuffs, and waistband. Double-needle coverstitching runs the collar, armholes, and waistband. The 1x1 rib cuffs and waistband carry spandex for recovery. A tear-away label sits flat for relabeling and platen work.
The smoother SofSpun face takes print cleaner than a coarse 50/50 crew. DTF transfers are the primary method across the full color card and the most forgiving on the 60/40 blend. Screen printing runs with a standard underbase on colored grounds; the 60/40 ratio carries less dye-migration risk than a 50/50 fleece, but a poly-block underbase and a controlled cure are still required on Cardinal, Fiery Red, J Navy, and the heather grounds to stop the polyester from bleeding through a plastisol deposit. Without a poly-block, a white or pastel print on a red or navy crew will shift pink or blue after cure. The full-front panel is the workhorse placement on a crew with no pouch pocket or hood seam to plan around, so large chest or center-front art lays flat without interruption. Embroidery benefits from the 7.2 oz fleece body, and DTG prints well on the 60% cotton component.
