A gang sheet is a single DTF film sheet containing multiple designs printed together. Instead of ordering each design on its own sheet, you fill one 22x60-inch or 22x120-inch film with every print in your run — different sizes, different designs — and pay for the sheet, not per design.
Why Gang Sheets Reduce Cost
DTF transfers are priced by square inch when ordered individually. A 4x4-inch transfer costs more per square inch than a 22x120-inch gang sheet divided across the same area. The cost savings come from material efficiency: a gang sheet uses the full film area with minimal waste between designs.
Example: ordering 24 individual 4x4-inch transfers at retail price costs significantly more than placing those same 24 designs on a 22x24-inch gang sheet section. The gang sheet approach cuts per-transfer cost by 40–60% on most print runs. The larger the sheet and the more efficiently it is filled, the lower the per-design cost.
When Gang Sheets Make Sense
Gang sheets are most cost-effective when:
- You have multiple designs for the same order (team names, numbers, player names)
- You are printing the same design in multiple sizes (front chest logo plus sleeve hit)
- You have several small orders queued at the same time that can share a sheet
- You are building inventory of frequently repeated designs
Gang sheets are less efficient when you have a single large design filling most of the sheet, or when the designs are so varied in size that efficient arrangement is not possible. For a single full-front print at 12x14 inches, ordering by size is often simpler.
Gang Sheet Dimensions
Standard gang sheet widths are 22 inches. Length is sold in multiples — 22x60, 22x120, or custom lengths. The maximum sheet width of 22 inches matches the width of most commercial direct-to-film printers. Designs can be any size within the sheet boundaries, with a minimum 0.25-inch gap between designs.
How to Build a Gang Sheet
Two options:
Option 1: Use the Gang Sheet Builder. Upload multiple design files directly in your browser at TheClothingSpace Gang Sheet Builder. Set each design to its intended print size. The builder arranges them on the sheet. You confirm the layout and submit the order.
Option 2: Upload a print-ready file. Build the gang sheet in Photoshop, Illustrator, or any layout program. Export as a single PNG at 300 DPI minimum, sized at exactly 22 inches wide. Upload via the Gang Sheet Upload product. No per-design charge — you pay for the sheet size.
File Specs for Gang Sheets
Format: PNG (preferred, supports transparency). Minimum resolution: 300 DPI at print size. Sheet width: 22 inches maximum. Each design should have a transparent background with no white fill around edges. Minimum gap between designs: 0.25 inches. Do not include printer marks, bleed guides, or crop marks in the file.
Applying Gang Sheet Transfers
Gang sheets arrive as a single uncut film. Each design must be cut from the sheet before pressing. A standard rotary cutter or scissors works for simple shapes. For complex shapes or high-volume runs, a cutting machine (Cricut, Silhouette, or vinyl cutter with blade offset adjusted for DTF film) speeds up the process. Press each cut transfer individually using the same settings as single transfers for the fabric type.
UV DTF Gang Sheets
UV DTF transfers are also available as gang sheets via the UV DTF Gang Sheet Upload and UV DTF Gang Sheet Builder. UV DTF gang sheets use the same layout principles but are self-adhesive decals for hard surfaces rather than heat-press transfers for fabric. Same file specs apply: PNG, 300 DPI, 22 inches wide, transparent background.
All gang sheet orders produce and ship next business day. See best blanks for DTF for which fabrics to press your gang sheet transfers on.
