The Wholesale Buyer's Guide to 50/50 Cotton-Poly Sweatshirts
What to Know Before Ordering 50/50 Sweatshirts
G185 Specs
Gildan G185 Heavy Blend: 7.75 oz/yd2, 50/50 cotton-poly pill-resistant fleece. Air-jet yarn, double-needle stitching, matching drawcord. 30-plus color options. Most widely stocked wholesale sweatshirt.
Dye Migration
50/50 sweatshirts require low-bleed plastisol ink for white and light-colored prints on dark garments. Standard plastisol will shift color during curing. Test with a production sample before running a full job.
Case Quantities
G185 ships in cases of 72 units, size-scaled S through XL. Jerzees 562MR and Hanes P160 follow similar case structures. Order by the case for the lowest per-unit cost on large programs.
Decoration Compatibility
Compatible with screen printing (low-bleed ink required), DTF transfers, and embroidery. Not suitable for dye-sublimation due to the 50% cotton content blocking full-bleed dye absorption.
50/50 Sweatshirt Specs That Matter for Decoration
7.75 oz Fleece Weight
Midweight fleece handles well for retail-ready decoration and maintains shape through repeated commercial washing cycles.
Pill-Resistant Finish
G185 and Jerzees 562MR use pill-resistant fabric treatments that keep decorated garments looking consistent through the wear cycle.
DTF Compatible
50/50 fleece accepts DTF transfers cleanly when pressed at the correct temperature and pressure. Peel hot for maximum bonding on the textured fleece face.
Embroidery Stable
Heavier fleece weights hold embroidery placement without significant hooping distortion. Use cutaway backing for designs over 8,000 stitches.
Case Pricing Available
All core 50/50 sweatshirt styles are available at case pricing with no minimum order requirements. Mix colors within a style to reach case quantity thresholds.
